Lots of New Things!

Long time no chat! Just started my new day job, so I'm back to making posts and bags and other things on the weekend only. Thankfully, this weekend is a long one, so I can get a lot done!

Totally finished the star bag. It's up on the ole Etsy store now:

I'm pretty proud of the way the new window pattern came out. It's also not the only sweet loli-ish thing I'm currently sporting. The next one I'm going to post is probably going to give some people cavities:

Also decided on a general direction that I'm going to be taking my coffin bag. I kinda want that one to be a surprise, but here's a sneak peek at the lining fabric:

What cute little dead people, am I right? More on that as it develops.

Other than that, life has been good to me. We're trying to plan what Seth wants to do for his birthday. I started that new job and enjoying it so far. I've also acquired a cartoon addiction lately. Star vs. the Forces of Evil is something we've been running right through for the past week or so. Tonight's plan is to gather various cereals and eat them while watching an assortment of cartoons. Star, Steven Universe, Over the Garden Wall, and Gravity Falls are all probably going to be on the watch list.

What would you guys choose?

Fairy Kei and Pastel Goth

Good day to you, guys!

How're things with you? I'm doing fantastic, thank you for asking. So I had a brain-thought the other day. I'd be really interested in getting into more pastel goth things. I'm going to be posting my jackets and gloves to my Etsy account here pretty soon, once I run out of bags to work on. (Only three left to make.) My first thought was to make a coffin-shaped pattern to make a bag out of. I was thinking in a sort of light pink with fabric paint icing, a lavender interior and lavender straps. What do you guys think?

If I end up doing it, of course I'll share with you the juicy deets as well as a couple of pictures. Speaking of pictures, here's the bag I'm currently working on (it's one of the three):

Isn't the fabric just refreshing? I love the criss-cross pattern of the yellow, which is also going to the the lining for the bag and the interior of the inside pocket. This should be up in the shop within a day or two. Final pictures to come.

I also took a pretty fine picture of my new thread garden:

Being able to have all of them in one place and easily accessible has been a godsend. I don't have to wonder if I have a decent cerulean thread tucked away...somewhere...around. I can just look, and know. Like a person who has their life together. Haha!

Also, Reginald says hello. ^_^

First Custom Order!

Hey guys,

Just finished my first custom order. I was so excited about it I couldn't wait and I got it done in no time. This is probably not going to be a very long blog post, but I just couldn't not share it with you guys. Here's the finished product:

Isn't it darling? The individual that ordered this picked out all the fabrics and the theme. It was a real joy to work on. I promise I'll post more in a day or two.

Hyrulian Completion!

Hey guys!

After a nice long birthday celebration, I decided it was time to get back to work. And work I did! Just finished the second bag I made to post on my Etsy page. I'm really thrilled with how it turned out and I hope that it finds a swell home soon. Check it out:

And with my paw inside it for good scale:

I think I'm starting to get the hang of this whole "product photography" thing. I took the class on instructables and it definitely helped. I whole-heartedly recommend their classes. They put some real effort into teaching some incredible things on there.

Oh, I also just got my first custom order! I've posted some pictures of the fabric to my instagram, and I'll be putting more on here when it's a little further along. Thanks to everyone who is helping to make my dream a reality. You're all wonderful.

Birthday Time!

It's my birthday!!!

When I got to my day job they had done a real number decorating everything. Table cloth, button, balloons, birthday sash, two birthday cards, two presents, a crown, and four plastic fairy wands. Not to mention all the candy I don't need. Haha! It's been wonderful so far. I'm excited to go to Denny's and have them feed me for existing!

That said, I've been going a little fabric crazy. I just got some really sugar sweet ones. Light pink with medium pink roses and cream. Truth be told, I've been eyeing this fabric for the longest time, and just got the perfect excuse to buy it: more bags! I'm wanting to line it with the other ones shown here:

Aren't they beautiful? Even just cutting the one on the right has been a real pleasure. I can't wait to see what they look like complete.

The Zelda bag is a squeak away from being done. Once it is I will totally update you guys. It'll be posted to Etsy too. My friend Catora did a real number picking out the interior fabric. It's perfect. Anyway! More to come!

New Fabric...Yay!

Hey there. Cow here.

I just got some new fabric in and I'm totally stoked to use it. It's a stained glass Zelda pattern with little Links doing various things Link does. It's adorable. I spent all yesterday working through about HALF the whole dang bag already, so it's probably going to be up on Etsy before too long. I've decided to start scotch guarding the outer fabrics for these bags because, well heck...they're worth it. I want them to last a good long while. Here's a sneak peek of the work in progress:

And yes that is Reggie guarding over it like the good doggie he is. Good boy.

Don't eat the new bag, now, Reginald...

In addition to this new item I have a plan in the works to maybe draft a new coffin pattern for a windowed ita backpack. I'm in love with pastel goth, even though I can never find anything in my size, so I was thinking I might make it in lavender outer cloth with a spooky ghost fabric for the inside. I also scored big with some rather fairy kei fabric I've harvested from a curtain valance I found at a thrift store. That one is going to be seriously limited edition since there's only so much fabric. I think I could squeeze two, maybe three bags out of it. I'll show you more of what's on the horizon as it comes up, but for now...Zelda!

Meet Reginald, my Pin Pal

Hey guys! I wanted to have you meet my very own and most favorite pin pal in the whole world.

Reginald!:

My sisters got him for me for my birthday quite a long time ago and he has served as my faithful sewing companion ever since. He makes it really easy to get to and put back all my pins of course! He has a nice wide cranium. Drives the ladies wild:

I always see those cactus pin cushions that are floating around and think "I should get one". Then I think about it for two seconds. No cute cactus could ever replace my Reggie.

I just finished another bag! I made this one to brighten someone else's day for a change. It's up for sale on Etsy here. Here's a picture for your viewing pleasure:

Isn't it darling!? Oh, I'm so excited that it's done. But in the same vein I'm also excited to move on to the next one? I have too many feelings about sewing. Haha!

I also just opened up my shop to do custom orders and rebranded my banner and all sorts of nonsense. It looks pretty spiffy and it can only get better from here. I hope someone in the future will enjoy this bag. It was so much fun to put together.

Bags, Richard!

Salutations!

Wanted to share a bit of what I'm working on right now. I've been a little obsessed with bag making lately. I bought the ita backpack pattern from Alex Lynn Crafts and now I can't stop making them. I made one that was just for me first so that I could mess up a lil and not have it be a problem. It's so much fun! And when you don't have to worry about sizing, all the better. I decided to go with a subtle Steven Universe theme for the fabric:

It's been about a week since I finished it and I already have great plans for the thing. Many pins, lights, and even a patch of Steven's gem!

So now I'm working on another three of them. I'm almost done with a MyLittlePony one, and I've got two cut out in Zelda fabric. I can't wait to see them finished. Being able to stare at the completed bag for a couple of minutes is divine.

I've also got an extra large elf coat I recently finished in cyan and spinach green that I'm hoping to get posted to Etsy soon.

My birthday is in a couple of days and my parents have graciously made available a good amount of fabric money for the occasion. We'll see what kinds of things I can get into with that. I'm so excited to work on more!
